  7. To Play Road Construction Ahead you need:
  8. - a 486/33Mhz PC running Windows 3.1 or later
  9. - 8 MB of RAM or more
  10. - a SoundBlaster sound card, or compatible
  11. - 256 color capability
  12. - a mouse
  13. - QuickTime for Windows (an installer is available on this CD)
  14. - a double speed CD ROM drive or faster
  15.  
  16. To install Road Construction Ahead, view the CD using File Manager
  17. (Win 3.1) or Explorer (Win 95). Double-click the Setup.exe file. 
  18. Follow the on-screen instructions. During the installation you
  19. will have the option to install QuickTime for Windows. The installation
  20. will create a program group and icons in Program Manager (Win 3.1)
  21. or on the Start menu (Win 95). Use the Road Construction Ahead
  22. icon to start the program.

  24. To install QuickTime for Windows without running the regular Setup,
  25. view the CD using File Manager (Win 3.1) or Explorer (Win 95).
  26. Double-click the Setup.exe file. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  27. Once the installation is complete you need to restart your computer.

  29. Road Construction Ahead saves your preferences and saved games
  30. on your hard drive in the Windows directory:
  31. C:\WINDOWS\RCAGAMES
  32.  
  33. To set the preferences hold down the "P" key while
  34. the program loads. A preferences screen will appear 
  35. with the following choices (default is all ON
  36. and printing set to B&W):
  37.  
  38. - Save - on or off (allows the game to be saved or not)
  39. - Quit - on or off (allows the user to quit the game or not *)
  40. - Print- on or off (allows the user to print some screens)
  41.        - B&W or Color (gives a choice of printer type)
  42.  
  43. * If quit is disabled the "quit" button will not appear on the
  44. Sandbox screen, this will prevent the user from being able
  45. to get out of the program without your help. To quit the game
  46. while quit is disabled use the keyboard and type "Ctrl" and
  47. "." at the same time.

  49. If quit is disabled, using "Ctrl" and "." to quit will not save
  50. your game. To save your game while quit is disabled (and save is
  51. enabled), go to the Sandbox screen and click on the Banner. Change
  52.  your level. When prompted to save your game, choose "Yes". Then 
  53. use "Ctrl" and "." to quit the game. When you return to Road 
  54. Construction Ahead your saved game will appear on the Crew Call list.
  55. Click on your name to continue playing your saved game.
